Surgical operating microscope is used during all phases of the endodontic treatment. This microscope magnifies your tooth up to 20 times its normal size, allowing the doctor to magnify and illuminate deep into the root canals of a tooth, often visualizing the source of infection. High tech equipment in the hands of a certified trained endodontist will provide the best possible prognosis for complete healing of your tooth. The operating microscope can also be used to record images of your tooth and communicate additional information to your general dentist.
We use Digital radiographs to provide computerized imaging of your teeth using less than half as much radiation as traditional x-rays. Our office also utilizes the Distilled water purification system to provide sterile water for all procedures.
Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) is an innovative medical imaging technique that provides us with three-dimensional views of the patient. In certain cases, in as needed bases, CBCT greatly enhances our ability to diagnose, evaluate, treat and care for patients. Using CBCT we often able to locate hidden canals, detect cracks and preplan a surgical approach. During a CBCT scan, the machine rotates around the patient, capturing images using a cone-shaped X-ray beam.
Ultrasonic instruments are used in conjunction with the microscope to selectively remove tooth structure or bypass obstructions posts and metal instruments from root canals. These ultrasonic units are also used to prepare the root-end for filling in case microsurgical intervention is indicated.
Heat Treated Nickel Titanium Files
These elastic instruments made of a unique alloy of nickel-titanium allow the predictable negotiation and thorough cleaning of root canals with complex anatomy. These devices are placed into the root canal with a liquid antimicrobial agent to help remove all traces of bacteria and tissue.
Apex Locators
Computerized technology used to measure the root canal length, ensuring all of the infected contents are removed.
Mineral Trioxide Aggregate
A biocompatible material used for pulp capping, resorption repairs, perforation repairs, apexification, and root end filling during surgical treatment.
Communication
A full color patient treatment reports including copies of digital radiographs and digital color images taken trough surgical microscope can be e-mailed to dental co-therapists. We can also receive digital radiographs via e-mail and diskette.
Instrument Sterilization
Prime Endodontics exceeds the highest standards of infection control advocated by the American Dental Association, and OSHA. We utilize the latest infection control protocol and barrier techniques and autoclave sterilization to eliminate any risk of cross-contamination.
During your treatment appointment, just sit back and relax in our dental chair and listen to relaxing music. Our patients are pleasantly surprised at how comfortable they are during their appointment. However, if you are experiencing nervousness or anxiety regarding your treatment, you may choose to be sedated by simply taking a pill, allowing you to relax and sleep.
